LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. The Boston Red Sox minor league player involved in a deadly crash on Lee Boulevard is in stable condition, a team official said.

The wreck happened just before midnight on April 26 at the intersection of Lee Boulevard and Lee Court, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

One person was killed in the crash, according to the FHP. The other person, later identified as Kevin Steen, 20, was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

A Boston Red Sox official released an update on Steen’s condition as he recuperates from “multiple surgeries,” and his injuries sustained in the crash.

“As of now, there are no additional surgeries planned and the next steps of his recovery are being discussed,” a Red Sox official wrote in an email Wednesday night.

No further information was immediately available.
