Man arrested in connection to March bank robbery

SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. A 37-year-old man accused of robbing a Capital Bank on Metro Parkway on March 16 was arrested Wednesday.

It’s unclear how much money he took.

Lee County deputies found David Smith hiding in a shed on the property of a home on Georgia Boulevard, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said.

Smith is in custody facing one count of robbery with no bond set.

He is a repeat offender and convicted felon, with previous arrests for child cruelty and the possession of a weapon on a school campus.
