CLEWISTON, Fla. A 27-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday morning after a crash on U.S. 27 and Lewis Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The wreck happened at 6:24 a.m. when James Douglas Edens, of Clewiston, was driving a 1996 Jeep Chevrolet westbound on U.S. 27 behind a bus, troopers said. The driver of the bus began to decelerate causing Eden to swerve and collide with a concrete barrier on the westbound side of the median. Eden lost control and was ejected from his vehicle, troopers said. He was not wearing a seat belt. Edens was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, troopers said.
