Ohio officer shot, elementary school on lockdown

KIRKERSVILLE, Ohio (WBNS-10TV) Sources in Licking County confirm a law enforcement officer has been shot during an active shooter situation.

Southwest Licking Schools confirm that Kirkersville Elementary is under lockdown. Latchkey students and staff are the only ones currently in the building.

Homeland Security, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Licking County Sheriff’s Office are responding to the 200 block of East Main Street in Kirkersville.

Officers have not released a description of a potential gunman.

This is about five miles west of Hebron in Licking County.

East Main Street is shut down. 5th Street is also closed. Hamilton is also closed. Drivers are advised to take I-71.
