Uber driver attacked in Lehigh road rage incident

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. A road rage brawl involving an Uber driver erupted in the parking lot of a grocery store on Monday, Lee County deputies said.

Marco Castillo, 53, was driving down Leeland Heights Boulevard around 5 p.m. on his way to pick up two customers at the Winn Dixie on Bell Boulevard North when he accidentally cut off another driver while merging into the other lane, deputies said.

The driver became enraged and tailgated him into the Winn Dixie parking lot.

“When he tried to approach me next to the Winn Dixie, I saw my two passengers try to get in, but I didn’t want to let them in because I had this situation on my left side,” Castillo said. “That’s when I went into the parking spaces to get away from this guy.”

However, the other driver quickly pulled up and blocked Castillo in when he parked, according to deputies.

The driver then got out of his vehicle and proceeded to hit Castillo’s car mirrors.

As Castillo slowly began to back up, the driver wedged his foot under the tire to stop him.

The driver then started screaming that Castillo ran over his foot, even though it wasn’t true, witnesses said.

“People were coming around the side saying, ‘Hey sir, we saw what you did. You stuck in your feet, nothing is wrong with your foot,'” Castillo said.

Castillo is not pressing any charge against the driver.
