Mother’s Day a big one for mom of Kentucky quintuplets

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Briana Driskell marked her first Mother’s Day after giving birth to healthy quintuplets at a Kentucky hospital. Her next goal is bringing them home.

The three girls and two boys were delivered May 2 at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, media outlets report. Their great-grandparents, Eugene and Betty Richmond, live in south Fort Myers.

The 29-year-old Driskell entered the hospital in her 22nd week. The babies were delivered by cesarian section at 28 weeks.

UK chief of neonatal medicine Dr. Peter Gianonne says the babies are doing well in the neonatal intensive care unit. The babies’ names are Zoey, Asher, Gavin, Dakota and Hollyn.

Driskell became pregnant after undergoing five fertility treatments. She and her husband, Jordan, of Versailles, Kentucky, thanked doctors and nurses at a news conference on Friday.

It was the second quintuplet birth at UK Hospital in less than a year.
