John Trierweiler / WINK SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. A 92-year-old Fort Myers man was killed in a Monday morning crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Joseph Cooke was pronounced dead on arrival at Gulf Coast Medical Center, where he was taken after his Pontiac Montana collided with a Ford F-250, the FHP said. The wreck happened at 11:11 a.m. at Michael G. Rippe Parkway and Briarcliff Road. Northbound Michael G. Rippe was temporarily closed but reopened Monday afternoon. Cooke was headed south on Michael G. Rippe and turned left into the path of the truck, driven by 24-year-old Stephen Henke of Lehigh Acres, the FHP said. Henke suffered minor injuries, the FHP said. The crash remains under investigation.
