Gov. Scott touts jobs, talks budget in Lee County visit

Published: Updated:

SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. Gov. Rick Scott continued his push to highlight job creation Tuesday.

Scott also spoke about his plan to diligently assess a roughly $83 billion budget approved by the state legislature earlier this month.

Scott has been critical of the budget due to its exclusion of his top priorities.

“It’s your money. Got to make sure your money is spent well, so I’ll go through the budget and just make sure the dollars are allocated in a manner that I think is good for citizens of this state,” he said.

Scott expects to receive the state budget’s plans this week. Upon receiving the budget, he will have 15 days to decide whether he wants to veto the whole budget or portions of it.

The governor made his remarks at a press conference at Fish Tale Boats, a boat retailer on 15581 South Tamiami Trail. He awarded Fish Tale’s owners with Governor Business Ambassador Awards.
