Victim identified in deadly Port Charlotte crash

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. One person has died in a crash early Wednesday morning on McCall Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Brian J. Serrano Otero, 25, of North Port was killed at around 2:30 a.m.when he was thrown from his 1992 Honda Civic, according to the FHP.

He was swerving between the left and right westbound lanes of McCall Road before traveling onto a grassy median, State troopers said. He then hit a curb, which caused his vehicle to travel through an embankment hit trees and palmettos and overturn multiple times.

He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and it’s unclear if alcohol was involved, according to State troopers.
