ARCADIA, Fla. A 26-year-old man was killed in a crash early Tuesday morning on U.S. 17, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Joseph P. Kriegel, 26, of Arcadia, was killed when his 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck hit a utility pole, according to the FHP.
Kriegel was driving northbound on U.S. 17 when he swerved onto the the center median, State troopers said. He over-corrected and swerved back, drove off the roadway and into a grass ditch before hitting the pole.
The wreck happened around 2:04 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 17 and Southwest Hull Avenue, according to State troopers.
It’s unclear if Kriegel was wearing a seat belt or if alcohol was involved in the crash.
