NORTH NAPLES, Fla. Heavy rains deluged streets and prompted an urban and small stream flood advisory Wednesday afternoon.

The advisory, issued at 12:40 p.m. for northwest Collier and northwest Hendry counties, had expired by mid-afternoon as storms moved out of those areas.

Shirley Street, J&C Boulevard, Trade Center Way and other streets in an industrial part of North Naples were underwater, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

But those streets appeared to be mostly clear by 3:40 p.m.

Strong storms, lightning and thunder moved through Collier County, western portions of Hendry County and southeastern portions of Lee County, WINK meteorologist Zach Maloch said shortly after noon.

But the flooding was not expected to last long, Maloch said.
