FORT MYERS, Fla. Tropical Storm Jose is making an impact on extreme southeastern New England as it lingers offshore.

Jose stirred up high surf and rip currents and brought rain as it maintained 60 mph winds at its core about 145 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. advisory.

Its movement was stationary, and it’s expected to meander for the next few days as it weakens and becomes an extra-tropical low.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Block Island, Rhode Island, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and Woods Hole to Sagamore Beach, including Cape Cod, Massachusetts, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Jose will not impact Southwest Florida.
