Groundbreaking ceremony set for downtown Fort Myers hotel

FORT MYERS, Fla. Ceremonial groundbreaking for a long-awaited downtown hotel is a week away.

Tampa-based Mainsail Lodging and Development is planning a 12-story building with a restaurant and access to the adjacent Harborside Event Center.

The groundbreaking ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6 with a “mix and mingle” preceding it at 10 a.m., Mainsail said in a press release. Attendees must RSVP by Wednesday to cklich@mainsailhotels.com.
