Sketch released of suspect in Golden Gate kidnapping attempt

GOLDEN GATE, Fla. A composite sketch of the suspect in an attempted kidnapping has been released.

A man took a 3-year-old boy by the hand and led him away from his family Sunday behind Church of God Naples on 11965 Collier Blvd., according to the sheriff’s office. A family friend chased the man down and rescued the boy, but the suspect got away.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 50s, 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds with salt-and-pepper hair and brown eyes, the sheriff’s office said. He was wearing jeans and a button-up black and white plaid shirt.

Detectives also released a photograph of a shirt similar to the one the suspect wore.
