Crash, vehicle fire on McGregor Blvd. leaves 1 dead

One person has died in a car crash early Monday morning on McGregor Boulevard, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The vehicle caught fire from downed power lines after the driver struck a power pole.

The wreck happened on McGregor Boulevard near South Town and River Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.

The southbound lanes of McGregor Boulevard have since reopened and there is one northbound lane open.

First responders were unable to reach the driver in time.
