Hundreds of high school students got the chance to see what working in Southwest Florida is like.

As part of the NAF program,  in partnership with Junior Achievements of SWFL, reverse job shadowing shows students what future careers are open to them and how they can work toward starting their careers early.

In a time that can be stressful and overwhelming, high school students like Barron Collier senior Abhijith Neelamchalil, found some guidance from community and business leaders Towards a plan to the rest of their lives.

Abhijith Neelamchalil, senior at Barron Collier High School said, “Being able to see these people and actually understand how they got to where they are… It really serves as motivation.“

The reverse job shadow event shows students they have the tools they need to succeed.

Neelamchalil says he didn’t think the skills he learned in Model UN would pay off, “I’ve learned how to become a better negotiator through these competitions. I’ve never actually considered it to be something that’s important in life, until Mr. Wilson stated it out specifically.”

Barron Collier junior Rafaella Daniyar took the day to build relationships for her future, despite being one of the youngest in this crowd. She wasn’t going to let any opportunities pass her by.

“If you get those good relationships word spreads around about your work ethic the way you act what you do in general what have you done it spreads,” she said.

Daniyar says she feels with this program she’s on the right path to start her future.
