CCPD nabs suspect using counterfeit credit cards to buy large amounts of fuel

Authorities arrest a Cape Coral man purchasing large amounts of diesel fuel on over a dozen counterfeit credit cards.

The suspect, Alain Misiara Erbite, 28, faces charges of Possession of 15 to 49 Counterfeit Credit Cards, 3-counts of Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information to Commit Felony, Transport Dangerous Material – Unlawful Conveyance of Fuel and Obtaining Fuel by Fraud.

A manager at 7-11 at the 1500 block of Chiquita Boulevard S, alerted Cape Coral Police Dept. to Erbite as he had been coming to the station twice a day to purchase large amounts of fuel, per the CCPD press release.

Erbite is suspected of making these purchases at Lee County gas stations using multiple counterfeit credit cards. He would in a red Ford F350 pickup truck. The bed of the pickup truck would sag due to the excess weight of all the fuel that was purchased.

After picking up the diesel fuel, Erbite would then travel to Lehigh Acres to drop it off, per the press release. Detectives arrested Erbite on Feb. 19, after following the suspect make several gasoline purchases at various 7-11 gas stations in Lee County.

Erbite has been transferred to Lee County Jail.
