Fatal motorcycle crash overnight in St. James City

A motorcyclist died overnight after crashing into a speed limit sign and being thrown from his bike.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Phillip Addiss, 25, was heading north on Stringfellow Road, north of Tropical Point Drive, when he lost control of the bike and veered off the roadway.

Addiss collided with the sign, causing the bike to overturn throwing him to the ground.

Phillip Addiss died from his injuries in the crash.
