Hit-and-run leaves a North Fort Myers man with critical injuries

A North Fort Myers man was the victim of a hit-and-run leaving him with critical injuries.

Patrick Santiago, 37, was hit by an unknown vehicle at Beau Dr. and Hancock Bridge Rd. in North Fort Myers at 1:40 a.m. Sunday.

The vehicle was moving south on Beau Dr., south of Hancock Bridge Pkwy as Santiago was walking in the same direction on the west sidewalk.

The vehicle went off-road onto the west sidewalk, the Florida Highway Patrol press release states. The front portion of the vehicle propelled into Santiago. The vehicle immediately fled the scene, traveling south on Beau Dr.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
