Patients in Florida could soon be able to head to a local pharmacy to be tested and treated for the flu and strep throat instead of waiting at a doctor’s office.

Florida lawmakers are putting a bill through the process in the House and Senate, so Florida patients have the opportunity to seek certain treatments through pharmacists.

Sponsors of the bill say it’s a way to increase access to health care and make the process of treating the flu and strep faster and cheaper.
