Gov. DeSantis gives a Wednesday update on the coronavirus outbreak in Florida

Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed the public during a press conference regarding the coronavirus outbreak in Florida.

DeSantis continues to urge anyone who travels to a country with a coronavirus outbreak and has any flu-like symptoms to self-isolate for 14 days.

The Governor is also restricting visitations to nursing homes and senior living facilities by any person infected with COVID-19, showing or presenting signs or symptoms of resp. infection, been in contact with someone with coronavirus, traveled internationally, traveled on a cruise ship, or in a community with a case of “community spread.”

DeSantis clarified the community spread in Florida mentioned by the federal government “technically doesn’t qualify” because all infected in the area were on the same cruise.

Lab Corp and Quest Diagnostics have started assisting the state in testing for coronavirus.

Upcoming election polling locations at assisted living facilities may also be relocated to other facilities.

In Lee County, Due to concerns regarding the transmission of coronavirus the following polling locations that are assisted living facilities have been replaced as follows:

  • Precinct 83 Shell Point-Village Church, 15100 Shell Point Blvd. FM will vote at Precinct 84 Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 Mc Gregor Blvd. FM
  • Precinct 108 Gulf Coast Village, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd. Cape Coral will vote at Precinct 106 Cape Coral Branch Office, 1039 SE 9th Ave. CC
