A suspect was killed Friday night following a domestic dispute and shots fired, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO said in a live video early Saturday morning that they responded to a call of a “domestic in progress” in Lehigh Acres around 10:15 p.m.

The suspect was said to have fired shots inside the home, according to a family member who called LCSO.

LCSO deputies, K9 team and aviation team responded to the scene and the suspect quickly fled on foot across the street and into a wooded area.

LCSO set up a perimeter with the suspect inside and attempted to speak to him. The suspect fired multiple shots within the area and deputies moved inside to make contact.

As deputies made contact, the suspect pointed his weapon at them. Deputies then shot at the suspect, killing him.

The five deputies involved were unharmed and have been placed on administrative leave, per LCSO’s policy.

This is an open and active investigation and will be taken over by LCSO’s major crimes unit.
