Lindsey’s lesson: Metropolitan Museum Metkids

Do you remember going to an art museum as a child and being bored to tears because you didn’t appreciate that culture until later in life?

Now the Metropolitan Museum of Art is not only coming to you—it’s bringing it down to the kid level with “Metkids.”

They have a virtual map where you can click on the dots and see a piece of work and read about it.

Once you click on a dot, like the autumn landscape, it tells you who made it, when, where, and even what it’s made of.

A lot of them also walk you through how to have your child make their own version of the artwork.

They also have a video tab, which is broken up in sections.

So if you click ‘create’ it shows you how to weave a mini loom, make an origami samurai helmet or clay pot—and that’s just some of the examples.

You can also click on Q&A and there are videos on how they decide on where they hand their art or care for it.

For more information or to try it out with your kids, visit the Metropolitan Museum kids website here.
