A flood advisory was issued Saturday afternoon for coastal Lee and Collier counties after several inches of rain fell.

The National Weather Service expired the Flash Flood Warning for west central Collier County at 7:45 p.m.

In Lee County, the Cape Coral area was also impacted by heavy rainfall, and some people headed out to enjoy the large volumes of water.

“I saw like the whole street flooded and I was like yeah I’m going out there,” said Brady Jones of Cape Coral. His mom Jill just said let the kids have fun.

“We really needed the rain this time of year so just why not let your kids just go and play in the rain,” she said.

Cape Coral police also issued a flood alert for the Beach Parkway West area where there was severe flooding in the roadway.

In Naples, Gulfshore Boulevard from 5th Avenue North to Central Avenue and 10th Street South from 6th to 10th Avenue South were closed Saturday due to flooding.

Storms will remain active throughout the evening and should dry up at sunset.
