Two people were injured Thursday morning during a home invasion in Arcadia.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call about a shooting shortly after 6 a.m., from the area of Highway 17 and Brannan Drive in southeast Arcadia.

Two suspects, armed with handguns, demanded entry to a home and during the confrontation, a man and a woman inside the home were shot and injured, according to DCSO.

Deputies said the suspects then took the woman hostage and left the house. Deputies stopped the vehicle and took the suspects into custody.

Both victims from the home were flown to the hospital and their conditions are unknown at this time.

The woman told deputies one of the suspects shot her because she sold him fake drugs, DCSO said.

Arrested were Ian M. Hildebrand of Arcadia and Bron Valdermar Lukas of Port Charlotte. Each suspect is being held on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping and home invasion robbery with a deadly weapon.
