Wednesday’s Coronavirus Updates: 9,989 new cases reported in Florida, 562 in SWFL

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, there have been 223,783 positive cases of the coronavirus recorded in the state. The case count includes 220,492 Florida residents and 3,291 non-Florida residents. There are 3,889 Florida resident deaths reported, 102 non-resident deaths and 16,758 hospitalizations, according to the Florida Department of Health.

There have been 2,322,389 tests administered in Florida. A total of 223,783 tests have come back positive, and 2,096,424 tests have come back negative. The remainder are still pending or inconclusive, according to the FDOH website.

*Numbers are released by the DOH daily at approximately 11 a.m.

Florida resident deaths: 3,889 (up from 3,841)
Non-resident deaths: 102 (unchanged)

Total recorded cases in SWFL: 16,625 (up from 16,063)

Lee County: 8,125 (up from 7,859) – 171 deaths *1 death redacted
Collier County: 5,433 (up from 5,201) – 85 deaths
Charlotte County: 974 (up from 944) – 77 deaths
DeSoto County: 775 (up from 760) – 10 deaths
Glades County: 189 (up from 188) – 1 death
Hendry County: 1,129 (up from 1,111) – 27 deaths

In the past 24 hours, SWFL reported the results of 2,556 tests, 562 of which were positive.
That’s 21.99% positive Wednesday, bringing the seven-day average to 23.16%.
