As we head into our Labor Day Weekend, all eyes are on the weather! We started out the weekend on the warmer side with highs reaching the mid 90’s across SW Florida. Fort Myers broke the daily record high with a temperature of 96°. As for showers and thunderstorms, the area starts out dry each and every morning, with increasing activity during the afternoon hours. Below is the forecast for both tomorrow and Labor Day, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms across the area. Tomorrow will start out mainly sunny and mild. Storms will likely develop during the early afternoon hours and continue through sunset. Expect improving conditions tomorrow night and into early Labor Day morning. On Monday, Labor Day, storms will be the most expansive as an upper level low will move just south of our area. Expect scattered thunderstorms with the potential for pockets of moderate to heavy rain during the afternoon and evening hours. Here is the culprit for our enhanced chances for thunderstorms for tomorrow and on Labor Day. An upper level low will swirl just south of our area , bringing more available moisture to the region. So to summarize the forecast through Labor Day, if you have outdoor activities planned, likely do them earlier than later! I hope everyone has wonderful holiday weekend!
