Sunflower Discount Market Sunflower Discount Market is expanding outside of Lee County, adding a location in Englewood. Since the coronavirus pandemic began, people have been trying to save money wherever possible. Cindy Wissink is no exception. “Not cut corners but maybe just have better savings and still be able to buy quality food. That’s obviously going to be the bonus there,” she said. Paul Crawford, the owner and manager of Sunflower Discount Market on Hancock Bridge Parkway in North Fort Myers, said he gets it. “People are trying to make the dollar go further and they can make it go a lot further here,” Crawford said. Luckily for Crawford, it’s working. Business is booming at his store and the pandemic is, in part, to thank. Paul and his wife, Lisa, opened the first grocery store in North Fort Myers about three years ago and are now looking to open a second location in Englewood this fall. “The demographics of Englewood are very similar to North Fort Myers,” Crawford said. “People who really do need to stretch a dollar.” The Sunflower Discount Market fills its shelves with discounted, damaged and almost expired goods then sells them at about half the price of retail stores. “People have been able to really appreciate the good deals that they can find here,” Crawford said. Good deals that can provide some financial relief for families. “We’re all trying to save some money here and there,” Wissink said. Sunflower Discount Market expects to open its Englewood location by October. They are currently hiring. If you’d like to apply, you can do so by following this link.
