A nearby camera caught the moment two vehicles collided at US-41 and Pondella Road in North Fort Myers on Sept. 9. The Lee County mother who authorities say ran a red light and caused a crash that killed her young son has been ticketed. The Florida Highway Patrol issued traffic citations on Sept. 19 for the 31-year-old Gabrielle Anna Reaves of North Fort Myers. The Sept. 9 crash at Pondella Road and US-41 involved three vehicles after Reaves ran a red light, troopers said. She was taken to the hospital with critical injuries but has since been released. Her 7-year-old son succumbed to his injuries on Sept. 15. Neither of them was wearing a seat belt. A citation was issued for failure to stop at the red light, which carries a $259 fine. Another citation was issued for the seat belt violation, and that carries a fine of $111. The citations note that both violations require a court appearance.
