An East Naples man is facing charges in connection with a burglary at a Great Clips in early September.

Jiannii L. Marrero, 35, is charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and grand theft.

Deputies identified Marrero as a suspect in footage of the Sept. 10 burglary. On that morning, a white male broke into the Great Clips at 4362 Thomasson Dr. and took over $3,500 in hair care equipment.

Surveillance footage showed a shirtless man with a large tattoo on his right shoulder, wearing shorts, black Nike slides and a white towel.

Detectives made contact with Marrero at his mother’s home. When asked whether he took part in the crime, Marrero said he didn’t remember the events, but explained he sometimes blacks out due to drug use.

Deputies showed Marrero’s mother images from the surveillance footage and she immediately identified her son as the person in the video.

At the time of his interview, Marrero was wearing the same black Nike slides shown in the footage.
