Monday’s Coronavirus Updates: 738 new cases, 5 new deaths reported in state

As of 11 a.m. Monday, there have been 701,302 positive cases of the coronavirus recorded in the state. The case count includes 692,962 Florida residents and 8,340 non-Florida residents. There are 14,037 Florida resident deaths reported, 170 non-resident deaths, and 43,606 hospitalizations at some point during illness, according to the Florida Department of Health.

*Numbers are released by the DOH daily at approximately 11 a.m. but are occasionally delayed.

STATEWIDE NUMBERS

Total number of recorded cases: 701,302 (up from 700,564)
Florida resident deaths: 14,037 (up from 14,032)
Non-resident deaths: 170 (unchanged)
Total deaths in state (FL/non-FL residents combined): 14,207 (up from 14,202)

• 738 total new cases reported Monday
• 5 total new resident deaths reported Monday
• 0 new non-resident deaths reported Monday
• Percent positive for new cases in FL residents: 4.23%
  • This percent is the number of people who test PCR- or antigen-positive for the first time divided by all the people tested that day, excluding people who have previously tested positive. 

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA NUMBERS

Total recorded cases in SWFL: 40,300 (up from 40,269)
Deaths: 889 (up from 887)

• 31 total new cases reported Monday
• 2 new deaths reported Monday

Lee County: 20,388 (up from 20,377) – 467 deaths (2 new)
Collier County: 12,692 (up from 12,681) – 216 deaths
Charlotte County: 3,046 (up from 3,039) – 135 deaths
DeSoto County: 1,565 (up from 1,563) – 25 deaths
Glades County: 540 (unchanged) – 4 deaths
Hendry County: 2,069 (unchanged) – 42 deaths

TESTING NUMBERS

Total tested (residents): 5,247,825
Total tested (non-residents): 21,002
Total positive (residents): 692,962
Total positive (non-residents): 8,340
Total negative (residents): 4,547,751
Total negative (non-residents): 12,619

The remainder of the tests is still pending or inconclusive, according to the FDOH website.
