The Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded late Tuesday to a shooting that injured a man who deputies say forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.

According to CCSO, a man let himself into an apartment at the Advenir at Aventine apartments on Marino Circle where he used to live with his ex-girlfriend. The man first entered the home with a gun after he saw his ex-girlfriend with another man and then left. He returned a second time and was shot by another man when he went into the apartment again.

When a Collier County deputy arrived, a gunshot victim was apparently on the ground getting first aid from a man and woman and yelling, “Please don’t let me die.” This is after he was shot in the back and the stomach around 11:15 p.m.

Others living at the apartments are unsettled by the shooting near them.

“Upon hearing about it, it kinda freaks me out a little bit,” Austin Fuchs said. “It makes me a little frightened. Obviously, I’m mildly trepidatious about hearing that there’s gunshots anywhere nearby.”

The man who was shot was taken to Physicians Regional Medical Center to treat non- life-threatening injuries.

His name has not been released, and there have been no arrests.
