Cape Coral police are investigating a shooting incident that happened Wednesday evening after a home was riddled with bullets. Now, the shooter is still on the run.

Officers went to a home on the 1300 block of Andalusia Boulevard at around 6:45 p.m. after receiving a call about shots being fired into a home. Multiple bullet holes were found in the walls of a duplex and casings were found in the roadway.

Police say no one was injured and the shooting was targeted, but it’s still leaving neighbors on edge and wondering what happened and why.

Vincent DeGooijer who lives next door to the shooting heard the shots and said he immediately worried about his young son sleeping in his room.

“Last night just watching TV, doing the normal dad duties with your child, and all of a sudden I hear which was definitely not fireworks, a short burst,” DeGooijer said. “Five, and then a break and then five or six more.”

He said he looked out the front window and saw two police officers driving down the street. “I called nonemergency to see what was going on, maybe it was police shootings, see what I need to do because again worried about the safety of my son.”

Phil Mullen with the Cape Coral Police Department, said, “There were several shell casings, so we’re not talking about just one round.”

And for DeGooijer, it was a little too close for comfort. ” I called my landlord this morning and I was like, ‘Hey how much longer do I have in my lease?'”

We hear that a lot from people when there’s violence in the neighborhood, but as we all know, that’s easier said than done.

CCPD has not said if they have a suspect in this shooting.
