If you have overdue traffic tickets or court fees in Lee County that are affecting the status of your driver’s license, you can catch a break in November.

The Clerk of Court Office is launching “Operation Green Light” beginning Nov. 9. The virtual event is part of a statewide initiative to help drivers get back on the road by letting those who owe save money on certain fees and collection costs.

In Lee County, the event will be held Nov. 9 to 19 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 20 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To participate, customers can connect via TeleClerk video conference or call 239-533-5000 to pay by credit card. To connect to TeleClerk, click on the icon on the homepage of LeeClerk.org. Customers who wish to pay in cash or by check at the Justice Center must schedule an appointment at LeeClerk.org. Only TeleClerk services are available during extended office hours.

“This year, customers have the opportunity to participate in Operation Green Light from the safety and convenience of their home,” Doggett said. “Our new video conferencing service is especially beneficial to all our customers who have suspended driver licenses and cannot drive to the Justice Center.”

If customers are unable to pay in full during the event, they can still benefit from the substantial savings by signing up for a payment plan. Once all court fees and traffic tickets are paid in full, customers may be eligible to reinstate their driver licenses. Additional fees may be required by the Tax Collector’s office to reinstate a driver’s license.

During last year’s event, nearly 850 customers saved more than $1 million and 545 became eligible to get their license back.

Payments must be made in counties where the fees and fines are owed. Many other clerk’s offices throughout Florida will be holding Operation Green Light events from Nov. 9 to 21.
