A 28-year-old woman from Port Charlotte was killed in a head-on collision around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to FHP, a 27-year-old driver of a Honda Accord from North Port was heading south on N. River Road near Center Road in Sarasota County. A Ford Focus was heading northbound.
The driver of the Accord drifted into the northbound lane resulting in a head-on crash with the Accord.
The 28-year-old driver of the Focus died at the scene and the driver of the Accord suffered serious injuries.
The crash continues to be under investigation.
Correction: FHP initially incorrectly stated which driver drifted lanes. The driver of the Accord went into oncoming traffic.
