Photo by AP. A Cape Coral woman has died after she was dragged by an SUV on Pine Island Road. The Cape Coral Police Department said Monday that Jamie Christian got out of the vehicle for unknown reasons at a red light, and the driver, identified as Brian Newman, accelerated, causing Christian to fall to the ground. She was dragged by the vehicle before it came to a stop. Police say it’s unknown if Christian was caught on something or had not completely exited the SUV before it moved. The crash happened at about 6:15 p.m. Friday, just east of Pondella Road. Police said it isn’t known if alcohol/drugs were a factor.
