Will Osley and Melvin Finley have lived with racism all their lives, but what they experienced recently in Lee County was different.

It started when the two workers, who are Black, went to make a delivery at a home. Gina Brashear claims the truck was blocking her driveway.

Brashear went on a racist rant, using the N-word multiple times, and demanding the truck be moved.

“If you think I’m going to have a (expletive) (N-word) tell me he’s not moving off my driveway … I can use the word (N-word) all (expletive)(expletive) day long,” Brashear said in the video recording posted to Facebook.

Finley, who is Black, said he feels nervous going into certain neighborhoods, especially if he sees the Confederate flag.

“It’s always been an uneasy feeling, but now there’s a real reason behind it,” Finley said.

Finley said the woman’s behavior was unacceptable.

“I am a grown man. I’m 33 years old. I have a son,” Finley said. “I have a mother who was old enough to be around during Civil Rights and stuff, and she did what she did to try to create a better future for me, and here I am going through the exact same thing she went through and that tears her up.”

Finley said he is trying to better his life to make it easier for his 7-year-old son to grow in a better world.

“It’s almost like a never-ending cycle,” Finley said.

Osley said Brashear is a very hateful person and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

“I’m not dying off doing a job,” Osley said.
