Similar addresses in Cape Coral confuse FedEx drivers

A Cape Coral man is tired of receiving packages from FedEx that don’t belong to him.

Terry Furge has tried to get FedEx to stop sending him his neighbor’s packages to no avail.

“They’re not my packages,” he said. “I don’t want them.”

Every month he takes a trip from northwest Cape Coral to Southwest Florida International Airport to return the packages.

“I’m talking like 60 packages in the last two years,” Furge said. “I have tried numerous times to get a hold of FedEx in different ways. We start up calling the 800 number, always got a promise, five times, to fix it. It has never been fixed.”

The missing packages actually belong to Jim Schlueter, who lives one street over from Furge. The two men live at similar-sounding addresses except for one word. Furge lives on Place, while Schlueter resides on an Avenue.

“It’s no fun to order something that you need and it comes three weeks later,” Schlueter said.

Schlueter said he has called FedEx at least 20 times in the last two years but it wasn’t until recently that he got help. FedEx told WINK News it is looking into the issue.

Schlueter said he has apologized many times to the Furge family.

“They always seem fine with it until this past fall and now they don’t give us any packages that are sent there,” he said.
