Winn-Dixie pharmacies will begin administering the COVID-19 vaccine on Feb. 11.

A press release from parent company Southeastern Grocers, Inc., on Thursday said approximately 8,100 Moderna vaccines will be available by appointment only throughout the state at pharmacies at Winn-Dixie, Fresco y Más, and Harveys Supermarket locations. Exact locations have not been announced.

The company is working with the Florida Department of Health, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The free vaccines will be available for health care workers, residents and staff of long-term care facilities, and adults ages 65 and older.

Eligible individuals can go to www.winndixie.com/pharmacy/covid-vaccine, www.frescoymas.com/pharmacy/covid-vaccine and www.harveyssupermarkets.com/pharmacy/covid-vaccine for updates including vaccine availability details, participating store locations and to schedule an appointment online, when available. The vaccines are free, with or without health insurance. Those with health insurance must provide their health insurance card during their scheduled appointment, and those without insurance will need to present a valid driver’s license or Social Security card. You can also download and print out the consent form at home to save time at your appointment.

The company said that in the coming months, they will also provide additional COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacy locations and will coordinate future drive-thru clinics to administer free COVID-19 vaccines in additional underserved communities as availability expands. SEG operates 231 in-store pharmacies throughout the Southeast, including 159 pharmacies within the state of Florida.
