Lee County deputy vehicle ends up in ditch in Fort Myers crash, minor injuries

Fort Myers Police Department responded to a crash involving a Lee County deputy patrol car and another vehicle Monday.

Police responded to the intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Veronica S Shoemaker Boulevard, where a deputy car ended up in a ditch after a crash with another vehicle.

According to Fort Myers Fire Department, the deputy involved was able to get out of the patrol car safely and had minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also had minor injuries.

Both the deputy and driver of the other vehicle involved were taken to the hospital so they could be treated as a precaution.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed its deputy was OK.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The scene of the crash was cleared.
