Governor Ron DeSantis and Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran held a news conference in Melbourne this afternoon.

DeSantis says he wants to reinvent technical and vocational education.

When he came to office, he says that he passed an executive order to make sure Florida would be first in the country for vocational education by 2030.

He wants to propose $75 million for “Get There Faster” initiative for those in high school currently or those out of high school to support those in career training programs or work-based training programs.

The goal is to provide students with an alternative path to going to a traditional 4-year college.

It took place at Eau Gallie High School at 12:30 p.m.
