Good Tuesday afternoon, Southwest Florida and Happy First Day of School! Hot and humid weather returns today.

Our highs will climb to the mid-to-lower 90s this afternoon under increasing cloud cover.

High humidity will make our “feels like” temperatures reach the 100s again.

Don’t expect any immediate relief from the rain chances this morning. Only a few brief showers will be possible before lunchtime. Rain chances will begin inland this afternoon before spreading towards the coast in the late-afternoon and evening.

For the first day of school make sure to have the rain gear with you when you’re headed to pick them up as scattered storms move in around 3 o’clock.

Scattered rain chances will continue all week, increasing into the weekend as a result of Fred.

There is still uncertainty about the timing and strength of Potential Tropical Cyclone Six when it reaches the Florida Straits. This system is projected to strengthen into a tropical storm and there is the potential for it to become a hurricane. At this point in time the one certainty now is SWFL should expect more chances for rain, gusty winds, and a cooler weekend ahead.
