Port Charlotte shooting deemed accidental; no injuries

A shooting that occurred on Wednesday night in Port Charlotte has been deemed accidental, authorities said.

The investigation began after a bullet was found in someone’s living room in a home on Lasalle Road.

On Friday, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said the cause appeared to be “an accidental discharge unrelated to the victim or incident location.”

No charges have been filed at this time.

The shooting occureed around 10:30 p.m. when Charlotte County dispatch received a call about a shooting that took place on the 22000 block of LaSalle Road.

The victim said they heard a loud noise they believed it to be fireworks until they found a bullet on the living room floor. No injuries were reported.
