Happy Friday, Southwest Florida! A day of hot and humid weather is in store, with temperatures returning back into the 90s. Increasing cloud coverage will give us some relief from the sun into the mid-afternoon. The humidity will make it feel very similar to yesterday’s heat. Expect triple-digit feels like temperatures around lunchtime. Scattered rain chances return with today’s humidity. After a mostly dry morning, thunderstorms will build into the evening. After dark, rain chances will settle down. The latest forecast cone for Fred re-strengthens the cyclone into a tropical storm before it makes a close pass with the Southwest Florida coastline this weekend. By the start of next week, it makes landfall as a weak tropical storm in the Florida Panhandle. Expect gusty winds, stormy weather and a low-end storm surge threat this weekend from Fred. Localized flooding will likely be the premier threat with this storm.
