More than half the students and staff in one school system are in quarantine in Southwest Florida.

Dozens of students have tested positive for the coronavirus at Oasis Charter Schools in Cape Coral.

According to a document, 1,800 students and staff between the four Oasis Charter schools are quarantining.

Currently, 100 students have tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of students and staff is a little over 3,500 people.

The school system is expected to have a special meeting Friday to discuss protocols for controlling COVID-19 in a school setting. It will also look at the effectiveness of its current quarantine policies. The charter school system does not have a mask mandate in place.

The special meeting is expected to run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Cape Coral City Hall.
