Felon arrested on firearm charge after passing out in vehicle from fentanyl

A man was arrested in Collier County after deputies found him barely conscious behind the wheel at the intersection of Strand Boulevard and Immokalee Road after ingesting fentanyl.

Deputies found the license plate on Joshua Charles Hayes’ vehicle was stolen. They also found a safe in the vehicle that contained a firearm, Hayes’ personal information, including his ID, passport, debit card and a motor vehicle title.

The safe also included a black duty belt, a black holster, black knit gloves, a camouflage face/headcover, a box of bullets, a gun cleaning kit, and dozens of small clear bags used to transport drugs, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies describe Hayes as a “violent criminal,” “convicted felon,” and ” documented gang member.

Hayes was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
