Gunfire erupted in a Cape Coral neighborhood early Friday morning, leaving one person hurt and another in custody.
The Cape Coral Police Department responded to the scene on the 800 block of Miramar Street in south Cape Coral after the first call came in around 1:30 a.m.
According to police, a man reportedly shot his neighbor. The officers surrounded the home and spoke with the suspect. A Bearcat vehicle was also used to provide safety for the officers.
The suspect ultimately did come out peacefully and was taken into custody. The victim who was shot, was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Kevin Lester Guillory, 38, of Cape Coral, was arrested and faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and two weapons offenses.
While the scene has since been cleared, an increased police presence shut down the northbound lanes of Coronado Parkway between Victoria Boulevard and Miramar Street for several hours.
