School District of Lee County to hold presentations about threat assessment policy

The School District of Lee County is planning to hold a series of presentations for parents about how the district handles and manages threats to its schools.

Threat Assessment Coordinator Rick Parfitt said in the district’s press release, “This program will provide an overview of our program and give parents a chance to ask questions about what we do.”

The district says the presentations will cover topics including targeted violence, behavioral threat assessment, an overview of the threat assessment model, pathways to violence and examples and warning signs, and the role of parents and the community.

The topics will be covered over the course of six different presentations that will be held on the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, November 4, 2021 – 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 30, 2021 – 10:00.a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 12, 2022 – 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 19, 2022 – 10:00.a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 29, 2022 – 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 20, 2022 – 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The district says each presentation is expected to last 90-minutes. They will each be held via Zoom.
