A Fort Myers man has been sentenced to life in prison immediately following a guilty verdict for Sexual Battery – Child Less Than 12 Years of Age, Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and Lewd or Lascivious Conduct.

The jury returned the guilty verdict Friday afternoon following a three-day trial in Lee County.

In December 2019, Colin Patrick Featherston, 35, was arrested by the Fort Myers Police Department, following an investigation.

The police were called after a family member of the victim noticed some unusual behavior the victim had exhibited while playing with another young relative.

The adult nature of the intended play led her to contact law enforcement.

The investigation revealed there had been past sexual abuse committed on the child.

No further details of the case have been released.

Assistant State Attorney Natalie Savino of the Special Victims Unit prosecuted the case.
