A classic Southwest Florida event turned to chaos on Sunday as many people attending got stuck in the mud.

Hundreds enjoyed Trucks Gone Wild at Redneck Mud Park this weekend in Punta Gorda, until the weather began causing problems towards the end of the event.

While hundreds of people were eventually able to wheel themselves out of the Redneck Mud Park, others were still stuck in the mud, and it took more than just a few people to get vehicles out of the mud.

“It was raining all weekend and it just caused the streets to be very muddy, cars are getting stuck, RVs are getting stuck, ATVs are getting stuck,” said Miami resident Jocsan Ramos. “There’s multiple people helping people, trying to get out. There are people pulling, carrying cars and trying to get through.”

“It is kind of scary, but at the same time, it’s fun because it brings all the mud out, you know? Where everyone’s muddy and stuff, but it is hurtful for the people that get their cars stuck and have to get them out by people,” said Nate Baker, from Orlando.

Baker was one of the lucky ones: He was able to get out by himself and get home after being caught in the mess.

“Someone had to pull our small bike out in a big truck, and it costs us a hundred bucks,” Baker said.

He’s thankful that he was able to leave, but that wasn’t the case for many people. Some even charged a fee in exchange for their help.

“Oh there’s probably like 20 or 30 still back there… big trucks, too, like big RVs, big drivable RVs, there’s a lot,” said Baker.

Ramos and Baker hope everyone can get their wheels out of the mud and on the road.

A man who helped people get out of the mess told WINK News there are still some people stuck, but most have made it out safely.
